INTRODUCTION

 

Research plays an important element for any higher educational institution to strengthen their teaching and learning structure, high impact research program has always been a benchmark in determining university performance. Hence, RMIC is constantly playing its role in coordinating research plans and activities, managing grants and dissemination of information to further promote research culture among TATIUC academic staff.


As the executor secretariat of TATIUC research development program, RMIC is responsible to design policies and strategies to enhance institutional level of excellence in research and innovation, as well as responsible in commercialising research and results of international competitions. Apart from that, RMIC is also significant in providing for the enhancement of knowledge, academician intellectual and TATIUC management.

Research Management & Innovation Centre (RMIC), was formerly known as Research Management & Postgraduate Studies Centre. It was first introduced as Research and Innovation Unit when it was established in June 2008. Initially, the unit was under the governance of Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalization) office which responsible for managing, planning and organizing research activities of academic staff.  Apart from that, the unit had provided significant contribution in the form of expertise and consultancy services to the interested organizations and parties.
In February 2013, RMIC was renamed as Research Management Centre.  Under the new name, it continued to functions even more effectively. To become an avant garde and a highly skilled higher educational institution, TATIUC has made involvement in research activities a priority for all academic staff. Short term grants were awarded, financial assistance to present papers was supported and international conferences were organised via RMIC in providing the opportunity to the academicians to participate.
In fact, RMIC has successfully played its roles to inculcate research culture among academic staff by organising international conference such as International Conference in Engineering Technology (ICET) 2012. The conference constituted of International Conference in Advanced Manufacturing (ICAM) International Conference in Chemical Innovation (ICCI) and International Conference in Robotic Automative System (ICORAS). Overall, the conference managed to receive 150 participations worldwide. Apart from that, RMIC has also organised TATIUC Research and Innovation Exhibition (TARIE) focusing in promoting and encouraging innovation activities in TATIUC.
Today, RMIC is continuously striving to help TATIUC to achieve its goal to develop into an avant-garde higher educational institution according to TATIUC strategic plan.
